Mirror image property for the optimal solutions of two single processor scheduling problems with due intervals determination

چکیده
In the paper, we investigate two single processor problems, which deal with the process of negotiation between a producer and a customer about delivery time of final products. This process is modelled by a due interval, which is a generalization of well known classical due date and describes a time interval, in which a job should be finished. In this paper we consider two different mathematical models of due intervals. In both considered problems we should find such a schedule of jobs and such a determination of due intervals to each job, that the generalized cost function is minimized. The cost function is the maximum of the following three weighted parts: the maximum tardiness, the maximum earliness and the maximum due interval size. For the first problem we proved several properties of its optimal solution and next we show the mirror image property for both of considered problems, which helps us to provide an optimal solution for the second problem.

A Mathematical Programming Model and Genetic Algorithm for a Multi-Product Single Machine Scheduling Problem with Rework Processes
In this paper, a multi-product single machine scheduling problem with the possibility of producing defected jobs, is considered. We concern rework in the scheduling environment and propose a mixed-integer programming (MIP) model for the problem. Based on the philosophy of just-in-time production, minimization of the sum of earliness and tardiness costs is taken into account as the objective fu...

In this paper, we consider a flow shop scheduling problem with availability constraints (FSSPAC) for the objective of minimizing the makespan. In such a problem, machines are not continuously available for processing jobs due to preventive maintenance activities. We proposed a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model for this problem which can generate non-permutation schedules. Furthermor...

Proper and realistic scheduling is an important factor of success for every project. In reality, project scheduling often involves several objectives that must be realized simultaneously, and faces numerous uncertainties that may undermine the integrity of the devised schedule. Thus, the manner of dealing with such uncertainties is of particular importance for effective planning. A realistic sc...

متن کاملIntegrated Due Date Setting and Scheduling on a Single Machine Considering an Unexpected Unavailability
In this paper, an integrated machine scheduling withits due date setting problem has been considered. It is assumed that the machine is subject to some kind of random unavailability. Due dates should be set in an attractive and reliable manner, implying that they should be short and possible to be met. To this end, first, long due dates are penalized in the objective function. Then, for each cu...
